72hFY Official Competition Rules

1. The 72 Hours Film YouContest (72hFY) is administered by Agorha.
2. The Project is an international filmmaking competition where teams have just 72 hours to make a film from scratch.
3. The Contest consists of a filmmaking competitions to be held in Youtube in 2006/2007, beginning in June.
4. Each competition will produce a Winner—the makers of the Best Film of that Contest—as determined by an independent panel of judges.
5. Each Contest Winner shall receive a trophy, will have its film screened at the Annual 72hFY Awards Weekend (date and location to be announced), and shall be eligible for the award of "Best 72 Hours Film YoutContest of 2006/2007" and all prizes that go along with that designation.
6. Teams may compete in more than one contest; however, a team is not eligible to be the Contest Winner in more than one Contest.
7. The Contest is open to all filmmakers and/or creative people.

72hFY Official Filmaking Rules

The Goal: Write, shoot and edit a short film in 72 hours.

Before each contest, we will draw an action, a prop and a line of dialogue out of a hat. These elements must appear in your film in some way. All teams will have the same required elements.

However we will give you one genre to follow between :
:. Buddy Movie or Family Film
:. Detective/cop or Road Movie
:. Holiday Film or Horror
:. Historical Fiction/Period Piece or Musical
:. Mockumentary or Drama
:. Noir or B-movie
:. Cyber or Fantasy
:. Romance or Disaster Film
:. Silent Film or Spy
:. Western or Martial Arts
:. Action/Adventure or Comedy

The following rules apply to each participating group/production team:

1. Times:
• The 72 Hours Film YouContest (72hFY) will occur between a Friday and the following Monday (Italy Time + 1GTM).
• The participating group must complete its film/video work in time to add it to the group.
• Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition.

2. In that 72 hour period, all creativity will take place, including but not
limited to:
• Writing the script
• Rehearsing
• Costume/Set Design
• Shooting
• Editing
• Sound Design

3. The only work to begin prior to the "Official 72 Hours Time Period" is:
• Organizing Crew
• Organizing Cast
• Securing Equipment
• Scouting/Securing Locations

4. All footage must be shot within the 72 hour time period of the project.
• No stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used.
• Animation and special effects are permitted, but must be created during the 72 hour time period.

7. All cast and crew must be volunteers.

8. The finished film must be a minimum of 3 minutes in duration, and a maximum of 5 minutes in duration.

9. Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum of 60 seconds. The 60 seconds is considered additional to the length of the film, as stated in Rule 8.

10. Any type of video or film camera may be used

11. Pre-recorded sound effects are allowed, but you must have rights to use them.

13. Before the finished film begins, the tape should have:
• team name, date, city, nation, title and genre
• 2 seconds of black
• Your film

19. Music: Participating groups are encouraged to work with local composer and/or musicians to write and record music for the films. We realize that this may be difficult to achieve. Therefore, it is permissible for a participating group to use pre-recorded music; however the participating group must have the rights to any music used in its film and must provide a release for all music.

20. Films must include the following credit :
"This film made as part of the 72 Hours Film Youtube Contest 2006."
